Naked Soul Digi Groove gig to promote southern African musicians
Shakti Soul will stream the Naked Soul Digi Groove event featuring 10 artists including Mpho Sebina, Mane Dilla, Jordan Moozy, Their Real Names, Jay Aye Dee Eee (JADE), Sebaga, Flex The Ninja, M.A.R.S, NZA and YPG Jones on 22 November starting at 11.11am CAT.
The concert seeks to shine a light on musical talent from Botswana, Malawi and Mozambique while promoting solidarity between artists in the southern African region.
The digital concert will be streamed on the Naked Soul Digi Groove YouTube channel from Gaborone, Botswana, in the form of a house party, where the performances will take place in various parts of the house. The event is made possible through a partnership with the Music In Africa Foundation and the Music In Africa Live project.
Naked Soul has been operating from Gaborone and Johannesburg, South Africa, since 2016, hosting various artists including Ntirelang Berman, Samantha Mogwe, Zeus and many more. Digi Groove is the first ever festival under the Naked Soul brand and makes its debut as a digital offering.
The Digi Groove organisers said the Music In Africa Foundation had given Naked Soul an empowering experience in growing the small event to digital-festival status, and “allowing us to engage various artists and entities during COVID-19 pandemic when live performance and production has taken a huge hit.”
About Music In Africa Live
Thousands of African musicians have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has occasioned unprecedented lockdowns and restrictions across the continent. African musicians and professionals traditionally make a living from live performances, and now they find themselves in extreme difficulty.
The Music In Africa Live project is one of a number of new projects that the Music In Africa Foundation is introducing this year to support music professionals in Africa.
The project is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, Siemens Stiftung and Goethe-Institut.
