Kenya: StudioTISA announces NEXT Festival
StudioTISA has launched the inaugural NEXT Festival produced in partnership with Music In Africa Live.
NEXT is a digital live performance festival featuring emerging stars in the Kenyan music industry. The festival will run online on YouTube and Facebook from 23 November to 15 December 2020.
Among the artists featured in the first edition of NEXT Festival are Chemutai Sage, Ayrosh and Redfourth Chorus. The full festival programme will be announced soon.
“It’s an exciting opportunity to make some quality live music content, and also to drive the discovery of these understated acts,” StudioTISA director Dan Aceda said. “StudioTISA is proud to be a part of this, and we are really excited to showcase just how good these musicians are.”
The company produces premier Kenyan online live music platform StudioTISA, which airs weekly on YouTube, IGTV and Facebook Live. It works to develop, celebrate and elevate the works of musicians in Kenya from all genres and styles.
StudioTISA is both a physical space and a virtual concert venue, providing a safe way for performers to continue to work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
About Music In Africa Live
Thousands of African musicians have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has occasioned unprecedented lockdowns and restrictions across the continent. African musicians and professionals traditionally make a living from live performances, and now they find themselves in extreme difficulty.
The Music In Africa Live project is one of a number of new projects that the Music In Africa Foundation is introducing this year to support music professionals in Africa.
The project is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, Siemens Stiftung and Goethe-Institut.
