Call for applications: Bayimba Foundation marketing and media officer in Uganda
The Bayimba Foundation is seeking a self-driven marketing and media officer to join the cultural organisation in Kampala, Uganda.
The position is a one-year contract on a part-time basis with a six-month probation period. The successful candidate will report to the general manager and provide day-to-day oversight of administrative and operational functions to achieve project sustainability and success and follow defined targets, strategies and goals.
The Bayimba Foundation hosts high-quality developmental arts programmes that offer training courses and workshops for aspiring artists. Some of the foundation's key projects include the DOADOA performing arts market, the Amakula Film Festival, the Kampala International Theatre Festival and the Bayimba Academy.
Skills and requirements
Interested applicants should:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in project management or a related field.
- Have a minimum of three years’ progressive project management and coordination experience on local and international projects.
- Have knowledge and experience working in the arts and creative industry.
- Be fluent in English.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving, conflict, ethical management skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Be interested in and passionate about arts with an ability to recognise talent (experience in visual and performing arts).
- Be flexible during work.

Duties and responsibilities
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Contribute to the development of Bayimba’s annual marketing plans.
- Develop, manage and coordinate implementation marketing campaigns for all programmes and activities carried out by the organisation.
- Contribute to the implementation of marketing strategies of all initiatives by the organisation.
- Supervise media interns and ensure that they do their work correctly.
- Find sponsorships and media partnerships.
- Support the general manager in overseeing the department’s operations and ensure value for money on all marketing campaigns implemented by the organisation.
- Organise and attend marketing activities or events to raise brand awareness for the organisation.
- Plan advertising and promotional campaigns for products or services on a variety of media (social, print etc.) as appropriate.
- Liaise with stakeholders and vendors to promote the success of activities and enhance the company’s presence.
- See all ventures through to completion and evaluate their success using various metrics, including value for money, among others.
- Prepare content for the publication of marketing material and oversee distribution to relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct market research to identify opportunities for promotion and growth of the organisation.
- Collaborate with managers in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses.
- Prepare press releases as required and distribute them accordingly.
- Act as the main point of contact for all marketing-related events and activities for the organisation.
- Maintain and expand the foundation’s partnership database with private and public actors in Uganda and beyond.
- Identify and solicit for marketing campaign support for Bayimba’s programmes and activities (most notably its festivals and events).
- Ensure that all marketing agreements are correctly fulfilled and recognised.
- Develop and maintain relationships with all stakeholders relevant for Bayimba Cultural foundation initiatives.
- Work with the IT team to develop a sustainable online and social media support strategy to support online marketing of the organisation.
- Selection of marketing properties that resonate with the BCF brands for partnership through proposal assessment.
- Process the marketing campaign monitoring report for TV, radio, print and online to identify the marketing properties fulfilling the contractual agreements through compiling marketing campaign reports.
