Call for entries: Youth Empowerment Songs contest for the Arab world
Non-governmental organisation Mentor Arabia in Beirut, Lebanon, is accepting entries for its 2021 Youth Empowerment Songs competition.
Launched last year, the contest is a regional initiative which seeks to encourage young talented people to use art as a tool by creating song to spread awareness about risky behaviours and express their views around various socio-economic challenges and opportunities. This year's edition will run under the theme Youth Fears and Aspirations.
Through the competition, Mentor Arabia aims to:
- Develop an ambitious spirit among young people and motivate them to innovate.
- Enhance the importance of social responsibility among young people.
- Provide talented young people with opportunities to gain experience from specialists.
Who can apply?
Applicants must be from the following Arab countries: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania, Egypt, Sudan, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
Terms and conditions
- The participant must be a young man or woman aged between 18 and 30.
- The participant must be of Arab origin.
- The song duration must be between two to five minutes.
- The song lyrics must comply with the theme.
- The song must be recorded in Arabic, English or French and the lyrics must be translated to Arabic or English.
- The song lyrics must be provided.
- The work must be completed individually or collectively.
