Olamide and Shatta Wale for 'Ghana Meets Naija'
Nigerian rapper Olamide and Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale are slated to perform at this year’s edition of the Ghana Meets Naija concert. The annual concert, now in its sixth year, is scheduled to take place on Saturday 21 May at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Performing alongside Olamide and Shatta Wale will be Ghana’s EL and Pappy Kojo, as well as Nigeria’s Harry Song and highlife man Flavour.
As usual, the concert is structured as a Nigeria versus Ghana exhibition. This year the organiser, telecommunications company Tigo, have chosen a muscular theme, 'Battle of the Tribes'. According to a press release from organisers Tigo Ghana, “The theme is informed by the fact that both countries are represented as ‘tribes’ (Ghana and Nigeria) and despite the rivalry are united by their differences. The concert will feature performances from Tribe Ghana’s undisputed dancehall king Shatta Wale, who comes against Flavour from Tribe Nigeria.
“Tribe Ghana would also be represented by EL, who locks horns with Olamide from Tribe Nigeria, with the final to represent Tribe Ghana being Pappy Kojo against Harry Song from Tribe Nigeria," added the organisers.
The concert caters to the cultural life of both countries and is a well-known destination for Ghanaians and for Nigerians living in Ghana. The rich musical scene of Ghana is boosted by the event yearly.
Tickets are selling for GHS 100 ($26) for Upper Deck; or GHS 150 ($40) for VIP tickets. It’s also possible to reserve a VVIP Ticket and have it delivered by calling 057 009 5755. The delivery apparently comes with bottles of wine and vodka.
