Amazing Voices talent search returns for Season 2
Old Mutual’s reality talent search show Amazing Voices will return for a second season on 11 April. The show will run for 13 weeks until 5 July and includes participants from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Season 2 was launched in October with a call for entries where 546 singers sent in their recorded videos. Those shortlisted attended closed auditions in front of celebrity jurors in their home countries.
A total of 10 unsigned a capella groups, two from each country, are set to undergo three weeks of intense musical, educational and inspirational training at the Sun City resort in South Africa.
Afterwards, the participants will advance to the home-ground elimination stage. Three groups will advance to the grand final and compete to be crowned Africa‘s Amazing Voices and take home $100 000 in prize money.
Ammara Brown (Zimbabwe), Trigmatic (Ghana) and Philip Tuju Sijenyi (Kenya) will return as the main judges, while Vusi Nova (South Africa) and Evelle (Nigeria) will make their debut at the show.
The organisers say the contestants’ safety will be prioritised. The requisite health guidelines including hand sanitising, social distancing and ventilation of venues will be followed during the show.
“As one of Africa's most respected brands, Old Mutual has for many years championed positive futures for all our stakeholders,” UAP Old Mutual group head of marketing and communications Carol Kipsanai said.
“One of the sectors benefiting from Old Mutual’s ongoing support is musicians and performers. We encourage them to learn career management skills as well as the personal financial skills they need to survive and succeed in a highly competitive business.”
Amazing Voices will be broadcasted simultaneously at 5pm CAT on Mzansi Magic and Mzansi Wethu in South Africa and Zambezi Magic in Zimbabwe, at 3pm WAT on Africa Magic in Ghana, at 4pm WAT on Africa Magic in Nigeria, and at 6pm EAT on Maisha Magic East in Kenya.
The winner of the first season was Kenyan a capella group Wanavokali.
