Call for applications: SA arts council
The National Arts Council of South Africa (NAC) is inviting registered arts and culture organisations to apply for support funding.
Such organisations should be active in the disciplines of craft, dance, literature, multi-discipline, music, theatre and arts education. The call is only open to registered arts and culture organisations in the following South African provinces: Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga and the Free State.
Applications that are involved in creating new works, arts development, arts promotion, facilitating access to the arts and markets, are encouraged to apply. In addition, applications that promote social cohesion, nation building and environmental sustainability, will be preferable.
The aim of this funding is to support the mandate of the NAC by focusing on the following strategic priorities:
- Improve the geographic spread of grant funding allocations.
- Support transformation and redress in the arts.
- Contribute to job creation in the arts.
- Contribute to the sustainability of arts organisations.
- Support growth and development in the arts.
- Support artistic innovation and work relevant to the South African context.
Consideration will be given to organisations that have the capacity and proven track record to implement arts and culture programmes within the required timelines. In addition, organisations should demonstrate the capacity to utilise the funding with integrity and compliance with the principles and practices of sound governance.
Applicants are required to complete the application form, comply with the funding criteria and guidelines which are obtained from the NAC offices, website and via email on request.
The closing date for applications is 11 November 2016. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered and no exceptions will be made. NAC will only accept applications that are sent by post, courier or hand delivered.
