Call for entries: Research papers on cultural policy
The European Network of Cultural Administration Training Centres (ENCATC) and the Cultural Management Fund from the University of Antwerp in Belgium are accepting entries for their ENCATC Research Award on Cultural Policy and Cultural Management.
ENCATC is the official European network on cultural management and policy. The annual award is granted to a recent successfully defended doctoral thesis, which explores topical issues at stake and takes a step further from evaluative (descriptive) to innovative and internationally-oriented research designs.
The award targets emerging researchers in cultural policy and cultural management globally. It aims to stimulate academic research in cultural management and cultural policy, emphasising its applied implications, as well as create a network of competent scholars through ground-breaking research projects.
Note: The doctoral thesis submitted should be related to cultural management and policy and must have been defended up to four years after completion of the thesis.
Requirements
- A CV.
- A cover letter.
- The original table of contents of the doctoral thesis and a link to the full text.
- A 3 000-word summary of the doctoral thesis in English including the: Aim of the study and research questions.
- Theoretical framework.
- Methodological approaches, data collection and analysis, and the ethical considerations.
- Main results of the study.
- Theoretical and practical contributions to the field of cultural management and/or policy.
- Main references.
- Two letters of recommendation by the members of university's jury/assessment board involved in the public defense process.
An international jury will evaluate the applications and select the three finalists. The winner will be chosen and announced at the ENCATC Research Award virtual ceremony scheduled for 22 October.
The winning doctoral will be published in the ENCATC Book Series on Cultural Management and Cultural Policy Education. In order to be published, the winner must provide ENCATC with a proof edited manuscript in English.
The assessment criteria will be based on:
- Quality of the research and the research methodology.
- The originality of the research topic.
- The innovative character of the research design.
- Relevance and inspiration for the field and/or for policymakers.
- The international and comparative dimension of the research.
- Quality of writing.
