Cameroon: Watch Sevo Nchifor's Africa Mama video

The song is available for download and streaming on all major platforms, and comes on the heels of ‘Oh My Baby’, released in January.

‘African Mama’, released independently, was produced by Chify Jay. The song is built around tender guitar and piano placements and features a video helmed by Adah Akenji, who also worked on ‘Oh My Baby’.

“I thought I should make a song about how pretty the natural black colour is,” Nchifor told Music In Africa about the song’s motive, adding that he hopes the song encourages African women to leave their natural colour unchanged. “It makes them shine and it’s not easy to wrinkle. I want to make our African women know that we adore and admire them in their natural colour.

“African women should be proud of the black skin colour and should feel blessed for the skin colour. As a medical doctor, I feel it’s my responsibility to educate my fans.”

Nchifor was born and raised in Africa before later moving to the US. Since his 2019 debut song ‘Die For U’, he has gone on to release other successful singles, mainly around the theme of love. They include ‘Life’, ‘Ur So Special’, ‘Sign On Me’ and ‘All On Me’, among others.

Aside from making music, Nchifor revealed that he is passionate about assisting undiscovered artists in search of a platform. “I also support upcoming talents, so any talented upcoming musician confident in their craft but lack the means to express their talents should contact my team,” the musician said.
