MTN Bushfire launches 2021 Digital Series
The organisers of MTN Bushfire have launched the festival's 2021 Digital Series, which will be held throughout the year.
The series will feature a diverse range of top artists from Africa and across the world in a number of free events. It will include the MTN Bushfire Pulse Firefly 2021 Finale (25 June), The Collab (30 July), the MTN Bushfire 2021 Digital Festival (27 August) and the yet to be announced Arts Round Table workshop.
“MTN Bushfire is on the cutting edge as it develops further into the digital space, bringing the many diverse elements of the festival to the virtual and broadcast worlds,” a statement reads. “The MTN Bushfire 2021 Digital Series will be a next-level experience featuring electrifying performances, a unique regional collaboration, a national music competition finale, an artist empowerment workshop, exclusive content, up-close access to artists, and one of the most exciting multicultural digital festivals to be seen on the African continent.”
MTN Bushfire says the events will be streamed on its upcoming website, mobile app and social media platforms, as well as broadcast on TV by local and regional partners. The MTN Bushfire Firefly 2021 finale will take place at House On Fire and will be broadcast live on various digital platforms and Eswatini TV.
“The finale will feature the top 10 contestants, of which three winners will be chosen. Voting to choose the top 10 from the current top 20 contestants will begin in May, and the voting process will be shared shortly. The competition and voting are open to Eswatini residents only.”
The Collab, the organisers said, will comprise a pair of top-notch Eswatini and regional artists to inspire new creative work and support the creative process. It will also include an exclusive Q&A session and live acoustic performance with one of the collaborating artists at House On Fire.
The MTN Bushfire 2021 Digital Festival programme seeks to showcase the worldwide programme of diversity. It will feature over 20 artists from more than 10 countries around the world. “This finale will combine customised and upgraded immersive online experiences with a small, invitation-only, in-person event, adhering to COVID-19 protocols.”
MTN Bushfire said the Arts Round Table workshop is geared towards empowering Eswatini and regional artists to monetise and market their craft. Topics to be discussed include digital marketing, artist management and electronic press kit creation.
