The winners of the National Eisteddfod Academy’s 2021 Young Performer Awards were announced at Roodepoort Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa, earlier this month.
The awards, which are in their 18th edition, are intended for young performers in music, dance and drama. The awards ceremony was presented over four elimination rounds from 4 to 7 May followed by the final round. The top performers were honoured with cash as well as gold, silver and bronze medals.
The adjudicator’s panel comprised Heidi Edeling, Harold van Buuren, Izak Davel, Desiree Markgraaf and Peta-Ann Richardson.
“We firmly believe that youth development in the arts should never be locked down, and we’re grateful to all who kept the arts alive irrespective of all the challenges that the pandemic caused during the past year,” National Eisteddfod of South Africa CEO Francois van den Berg said.
