SA: Mzansi Magic to premiere Lebo M reality TV show
Mzansi Magic will premiere a reality TV show featuring South African Grammy Award-winning producer Lebo M on 8 July.
Lebo M - Coming Home will be broadcast at 8pm CAT and will coincide with the eve of the artist’s birthday. The show was first aired in a 10-part series on Showmax, and it explores Lebo M’s journey through his life and career. Viewers will get to see the musician's attempt at rekindling his relationship with ex-wife Angela Ngani-Casara, while navigating fatherhood with his son and daughter.
“Through this compelling reality TV show, Lebo M shows viewers that while he is an accomplished composer and producer, the most important accomplishment is safeguarding and bringing your family together under one roof,” M-Net director of local entertainment channels Nomsa Philiso said.
“Furthermore, Lebo M - Coming Home comes at a time when we are also about to celebrate the birthday of a legendary composer, producer and Africa’s most celebrated storyteller, whose craft was heard from Soweto all the way to Hollywood.”
Lebo M’s life comes full circle as he tries to keep the Morake household together, a press statement reads. In the first episode, Ngani-Casara throws a housewarming party as the renowned composer moves into a new home with his family and 93-year-old mother. The first episode unpacks tensions between Lebo M and his son Tshepiso, over the unwelcome mother of his child.
Lebo M (born Lebohang Morake) is known for arranging and performing music for the first The Lion King animated feature, and the theatre productions that followed. In 2019, he was featured on Beyoncé’s 'Spirit’ off the Lion King: The Gift album. His voice opens the film and has become synonymous with the movie’s image in popular culture.
