Watch H_art the Band’s new music video
Kenya’s H_art the Band has released a new video for the single ‘My Jaber’ off their latest album Simple Man.
The track, which was co-written by Kasee Global Sound and Brizy Annechild, celebrates women from the Nyanza region who are known for their physical attractiveness. The video was directed by Skoko and Ivan Odie, and features several dancing and singing celebrities.
“The new album has received a lot of positive feedback from listeners,” the band told Music In Africa. “The single has garnered more than 2.5 million streams across all platforms in just a month. We are now working on releasing more videos for the songs on the album and also new music. There is no doubt that we have grown in life and music, something we would like to reflect on our music moving forward.”
H_art the Band comprises spoken-word artist Wachira ‘Skoko’ Gatama, lead singer Mordecai Mwini and guitarist Kenneth ‘Kenchez’ Muya, who doubles up as a fashion designer and has contributed to earning the band a reputation as fashion icons. Since the start of their careers, the group has been highly regarded for their appealing aesthetics and showmanship.
Simple Man arrived two years after their debut album Made in the Streets – a compilation of powerful music and messages. In 2015, the trio won the Stage Performer of the Year Award at the Bingwa Awards and the Mdundo Platinum Award for amassing more than 100 000 downloads. In the same year, their second single ‘Nikikutazama’ landed them nominations at the All Africa Music Awards in the Revelation of the African Continent and Most Promising Artist in Africa categories.
