Jhay Nova (born 22 September 2006) is the professional name of Kentel Appiah Dankwa singer, Rapper and songwriter from Ghana West Africa

Early life and education

Kentel Appiah Dankwa was born and raised in Kibi, in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He completed his High school at Abuakwa State College located in Kibi (Eastern Region) of Ghana

Career

Jhay Nova began his career in 2020 with the release of his song "Genie" on YouTube. Back then he was using the name ''Kent'' and later changed it to ''Jhay Nova in 2021. In May 2023, his single "Sin 2 Win" was released, further increasing his audience

He later on got nominated for Rising Stars Awards GH and won the Discovery Artist of the Year Award in 2023. Back in Secondary school, the stage name Qwesy Kay and Later Changed to the current (Jhay Nova) after completing Secondary School. Jhay Nova also did a little bit of sound engineering because his Father (Joseph Oppong) with the stage name Kwabena Blakk, Sound engineer and Musician himself Jhay was inspired by that and decided to learn music production too. Later on produced his first song titled (Shadow the Freestyle) and the song Accumulated Over 1 million streams and peaked at number 1 on the Audiomack Top Songs Chart in Ghana

Jhay Nova's music is a blend of Afrobeat, hip-hop, and specifically Amapiano, a genre of South African music that has taken the world by storm. Many of his lyrics are in English and Akan dialect, Twi, his native tongue. He has stated his musical influences are Rema, Ruger, Omah Lay, Burna Boy, Kwesi Arthur, and Ghanaian artists King Promise, KiDi, Kwesi Arthur and Stonebwoy

He recently release a new collaboration song titled (Crazy) featuring a Ghanaian Holland-based artist named (Anna) on an E.P compilation with the likes of Artists like Regi Kay,Jah dart,Ellson and Kwabena Blakk . Way back in secondary school, he was also dancing alongside doing the music. Back then in secondary school, he was called ''Shopryt''
