Call for applications: Artistic freedom workshop in Northern Nigeria
Unchained Vibes Africa, a newly formed pan-African cultural organisation focused on creative productions and events geared towards social causes, is calling on young emerging creatives in Northern Nigeria to apply for a chance to participate in the Democracy Vibes virtual workshop in September.
With the training, Unchained Vibes Africa wants to leverage the power of the arts to promote civic education, good governance, human rights, cultural diversity and the spirit of solidarity in Africa.
The three-day event will to educate and strengthen the advocacy capabilities of artists, activists and journalists to promote democracy and freedom of expression. At the end of the workshop, participants will be inducted into the Unchained Vibes Africa alumni network to promote artistic freedom.
Why participate?
Participants will gain skills on best practices in art and activism and will be exposed to local, regional and international opportunities to develop their careers and promote democracy in Nigeria.
Each participant will receive a moderate per diem and stipend to cover internet connectivity expenses to facilitate seamless participation.
Eligibility
Interested applicants must:
- Be aged between the ages of 20 and 35.
- Be working in music, film, comedy, visual arts, theatre, literature/poetry or activism in the field of human rights and media freedom.
- Be based and working in Northern Nigeria.
- Have a strong interest in and demonstrate commitment to addressing social and political issues using their creative talents.
- Have either a laptop or 4G-enabled smartphone/any handheld device to effectively participate in a virtual event.
