MTN Bushfire presents The Collab featuring The One Who Sings and Sands
South African singer The One Who Sings and eSwatini artist Sands will make an appearance on MTN Bushfire festival’s The Collab digital platform on 27 August.
The Collab will feature a short documentary presenting a new song and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of Sands and The One Who Sings, better known to many as Zolani Mahola of Freshlyground fame.
The event is designed to inspire and support the new creative process and makes part of the MTN Bushfire 2021 Digital Series programme. The Collab will include an exclusive Q&A session and live acoustic performance at the iconic House On Fire amphitheatre in Malkerns, eSwatini.
“My collaboration with Sands has been full of ease and joy,” Mahola said. “It’s such a pleasure to connect with a fellow musician who is skilled and capable, but beyond that, who is eager and open to what the collaborative process can bring. In this case, it brought a bright continental fire and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”
Sands said: “Something special has come to life. Zolani is an amazing talent and I have been privileged with this opportunity to create fire with her. I can't wait for the world to hear this jam.”
MTN Bushfire says The Collab was created from a desire to inspire game-changing narratives that can facilitate the production of new artistic works that weave together Africa’s rich and diverse musical cultures, and reflect on current issues.
The Collab featuring The One Who Sings and Sands will start at 6pm and can be viewed on YouTube, Facebook and MTN Bushfire’s website.
