Deezer and FAC partner on new mentoring programme
Global audio streaming service Deezer and the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) have partnered on a new initiative to support musicians globally.
The partnership will begin with joint masterclasses as part of Deezer’s recently launched mentoring programme.
The workshops will offer 10 developing artists from the independent sector free seminars. Each seminar will be led by experts from Deezer who will help artists learn more about streaming, marketing, social media, PR and more.
The second session this year will focus on championing emerging Queer artists. FAC members are next in line to receive a full day of dedicated mentoring.
“The FAC and Deezer share a passion for empowering artists at a critical point in their career,” Deezer’s vice-president of global artist relations, Nigel Harding, said. “We believe that artists should have all the knowledge and understanding they need to succeed. The skills we focus on are all geared towards helping artists grow their streams and connect with more fans”.
“Empowering artists through education is central to the FAC’s mission and is fundamental in levelling the playing field, particularly for independent artists. As we start to emerge from the devastating effects of the pandemic, it is vital that those artists who are in their formative stages of their journey are given the very best chance at success.” FAC CEO David Martin said.
The call for applications for the Deezer and FAC Masterclass will be open for applications from 3 November. FAC members can apply before 12 November.
The first masterclass for women artists took place in March as part of Deezer’s campaign to empower Women’s voices. The initiative included new exclusive women’s content, including playlists and Originals Session.
