Call for applications: Extra Muros creative residency in Switzerland

Held annually, the residency seeks to bring together innovative and creative music producers and sound artists for a two-week production and writing camp. It also aims to encourage the creation of underground music and sonic sounds.

“Every upcoming edition of the residency takes place in a different unique location adapted to and for musical experimentation and production,” the organisers said. “From the heart of buzzing cities like Nairobi to the remoteness of Apulian landscapes, Extra Muros changes setup and context annually to foster the unique and experimental side of this artistic experience.”

The last edition was held in Sannicandro di Bari in Italy. 

Residency periods

• 13 to 19 December 2021.
• 7 to 12 February 2022.

Residencies will be awarded based on current activity, previous work and proposal for new work.

Note:

• Students or enlisted scholars are not welcome to apply.
• Artists are free to submit applications as a collective.
• A jury of experts, past residents and Extra Muros staff will convene to consider the candidates.
• Up to six residents will be accepted for every residency.
• Successful applicants will be notified via email or phone.
• Previous Extra Muros participants and alumni are not eligible to apply.

• Project proposal.

• Links of previous works (audio, scores, installations and video recordings).

Remuneration

Successful applicants will benefit from the following:

• A fully dedicated music studio with recording equipment.
• Housing, per diem and transportation.
• Training and workshops.
• Participation in the Extra Muros tour and vinyl.
