Call for applications: 2022 Marahaba Music Festival in Burundi
The organisers of the Marahaba Music Festival are calling on live performing artists and delegates to apply for an opportunity to showcase their work in Bujumbura, Burundi, on 19 February 2022.
The event was launched in 2019 to connect professionals working in Burundi with music professionals from around the world. For this year's edition the organisers have partnered with the Burundian Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, Visa For Music, the Music In Africa Foundation, Desti Events, Downtown Hotel 1, Afripean and Bayimba Foundation.
The programme will feature live performances, which will be seen by a diverse audience of local and international delegates, including promoters, booking agents, record label executives and festival organisers. Other activities will include training workshops, live performances and panel discussions, which will feature topics relating to production, marketing and music copyrights.
The application deadline is 5 January 2022.
Eligibility
The call is open to live performing artists and delegates globally.
To apply to showcase, artists must:
- Be over 18 years old.
- Be able to perform live.
Interested artists should submit the following:
- A short biography.
- A video performance.
- A hi-res promotional photo.
- Social media links.
To apply, interested applicants can send the above documents to info@marahabafestival.com.
Successful applicants will receive the following:
- A modest remuneration (per diem).
- Accommodation and local transport.
Note: Musicians based outside Burundi will be expected to provide their own funding for transport costs to and from the host city. Marahaba Music Expo will issue invitation letters that can be used to apply for funding.
