Call for scores: Crossing Borders Music artists with disabilities programme
Crossing Borders Music is calling on composers with disabilities around the world to submit scores for its artists with disabilities programme.
The programme will be video-recorded professionally in April 2022, and will be shared for free online and indefinitely starting in May 2022. Selected musical compositions will be performed by any combination of the core ensemble members of Crossing Borders Music: a pianist, two violinists, a violist, and a cellist.
Who can apply?
- Composers from all cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- The opportunity is only open to artists with disabilities.
- Artists selected for this opportunity will be invited, but not required, to create a short video or write a brief statement introducing their work.
Requirements
- Submissions in Western notation may be submitted as PDFs, with accompanying mp3 files welcomed but not required.
- Artists who don't use Western notation may submit MP3 files of musical works that could be arranged for a combination of piano, violins, viola, and cello.
- If neither option works, interested artists should contact info@crossingbordersmusic.org.
Crossing Borders Music will purchase selected scores if they are published, or compensate artists for a comparable amount if the score is unpublished. Crossing Borders Music will not provide additional compensation.
To submit, artists should upload files on Google Drive or DropBox and send an e-mail with the subject line 'Call for scores submission' to info@crossingbordersmusic.org and provide links to those files. Submissions may be up to 15 minutes in length.
The submission deadline is 12 December.
“Crossing Borders Music is a non-profit organisation and our mission is to use music to promote the dignity of people from all cultures,” reads a statement.
