Zim: 2022 NAMAs announce nominees
The nominees for the 2022 National Arts Merit Awards (NAMAs) in Zimbabwe have been announced ahead of the awards ceremony sometime this year.
The nominees were drawn from various arts disciplines including music, theatre, film, media, poetry, literature and comedy, with Jah Prayzah clinching four nominations in the music categories. The ‘Munyaradzi’ hitmaker is nominated in the Outstanding Male Musician, Outstanding Song, Outstanding Album and Outstanding Music Video categories.
Following closely behind is dancehall artists Nutty O with three nominations including Outstanding Male Musician, Outstanding Song and Outstanding Album. Gospel singer Janet Manyowa as well as newcomers Feli Nandi and DT Bio Mudimba have received two nods apiece.
Competing for the Outstanding Artist in the Diaspora Award are rapper AWA (Germany), DJ Zandimaz (South Africa) and Tongayi Arnold Chirisa (US).
