Paapa Versa, Mensa for Creative Hustle Dialogue in Accra
A number of artists and music industry insiders have been confirmed for the Creative Hustle Dialogue panel at the Impact Hub in Accra, Ghana, on 20 March.
The discussion is put together by Culture Forward (Ghana), a creative enabler seeking to provide opportunities for the next generation of artists, in partnership with the University of the Arts London and Impact Hub Accra. It also forms part of the British Council’s Creative Enterprise Support programme.
Running under the theme, The Economics of Surviving and Thriving as a Music Professional, the event will assess the experiences of creators and their approach to navigating the country’s music space.
Musician and podcaster Paapa Versa has been confirmed as the moderator for the evening. He will be joined by fellow artist and FOKN Bois member Mensa, A&R and creative consultant Kwame Kwaten, singer and entrepreneur Ekoes, and creative consultant and entrepreneur Christopher Lutterodt-Quarcoo.
Speaking to Music In Africa, Paapa said: "I feel honoured to be part of any conversation centred on elevating the arts in Ghana and Africa, and it’s a greater honour to host a panel with African giants who’ve been elevating the industry for years."
“I want music professionals who tune in to walk away with a sense of tangible plan for their music career, or at the very least, hope to keep going!"
On why such conversations are highly important for both emerging or established musicians, Paapa noted: “Productive conversations change lives, especially with people who know what they’re talking about. Some of the most life-changing moments in my life have come from such engagements. It’s important that these conversations happen often and, with help from the internet, we can now have them at scale."
The Creative Dialogue is scheduled for 4.30pm GMT and will be live-streamed on Culture Forward’s official Facebook page.
