Sampa the Great featured on Soho House limited edition vinyl
UK-based global community centre for creatives Soho House has featured Zambian-born rapper Sampa the Great on their debut vinyl edition Morning, Noon, Night, which was released on 23 March.
The first-ever limited-edition vinyl press also features acts such as Khruangbin, Serpentwithfeet, Ego Ella May, Maribou State and Róisín Murphy. It was curated by Soho House’s global head of music, Dom Chung, and features 18 tracks that capture musical moments from Soho Houses. The eclectic mixtape takes listeners on a vivid journey 'from morning to night', and its sleeve comprises a selection of Soho House members’ answers to questions like “What’s your favourite time of day?”
“Soho House has become a discovery channel for music, and now with our vinyl, guests can take home the mood of our Houses”, Dom Chung said. “Morning, Noon, Night is an existing concept we have used as a book title, and more recently to franchise our public facing playlists. It made sense to us that we continue that journey with the album as it’s already embedded in the DNA of what we do. The album is a genuine reflection of a day at Soho House, whether it be more downtempo morning tracks, provided by artists such as Serpentwithfeet or Ego Ella May, through to the classic heritage sounds of Dee Edwards and John Holt.”
Founded by Nick Jones in 1995, Soho began as three interconnected houses for artists and actors in London. Over the past few years, the community has widely become a defining platform for popular and emerging talent in London and the rest of the world, hosting musicians such as Erykah Badu, Phoebe Bridgers, Sister Sledge, Leon Bridges, Macey Gray, Little Simz, and many more.
