Nigeria: Listen to DJ Neptune’s Walangolo

The Afropop single blends bouncy Afrobeats, sunny Latin influences and tropical Caribbean pulses. Thematically, it invites high energy dancing and the celebration of life.

‘Walangolo’ looks to follow in the success of 2020’s ‘Nobody’, which also guests Mr Eazi and Joeboy. The record has generated over 135 million streams across major digital platforms. At the 2020 Headies Awards in Nigeria, the song was named as the Best Pop Single. DJ Neptune also partnered with Mr Eazi on the recently-released ‘Do and Undo’, as well as 2019’s ‘Marry’.

“We made this record in Los Angeles whilst just taking in the summer energy and vibing in the house,” Mr Eazi said. “Hopefully, it carries that spirit to everyone who hears it.” 

DJ Neptune, who doubles as a record producer, is behind other well-received offerings including ‘Baddest’ featuring Olamide, BOJ, and Stonebwoy, ‘Wait’ featuring Kizz Daniel and the Davido-assisted ‘Demo’. Active since 2001, DJ Neptune is behind the Love and Greatness EP, as well as the Greatness and Greatness 2.0 albums. 

Speaking to Audimack World back in January, DJ Neptune explained that his trick to staying relevant within Afropop circles over the years involved staying focused, staying hungry, and being professional. "Also if you don’t have God’s grace with you, it almost feels like you are wasting your time," he said.

The past two years have seen Mr Eazi reaching over 1.5 billion streams, expanding his emPawa Africa talent incubator, launching the Africa Music Fund and releasing successful collaborations with global stars like Major Lazer, Nicki Minaj and J Balvin.
