KiDi inks brand ambassador deal with KFC Ghana

The announcement was made at a press briefing and signing ceremony in Accra, and follows the singer’s Artist of the Year win at the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards at the weekend. KiDi’s role as ambassador makes him the local face of the restaurant chain in various advertising campaigns.

KFC started operations in Ghana in 2011 and currently boasts 26 quick-service restaurants in the country. The company said it settled on KiDi because the artist shares similar values with theirs and would facilitate its expansion efforts across the country. 

“If you look at KiDi’s following, virtues, and how he has grown, we felt that with the pace at which we want to grow, he was the right person for us to go and look for,” a KFC representative said. 

“As a growing artist, to have successful brands wanting to work with you is a big plus for my team and me,” KiDi said. “For artists, growing your brand means having other big brands coming to work with you. So this means growth for me and my whole team, and we are grateful for it.”

Speaking to Music In Africa, KiDi noted that he was honoured by the partnership, adding that even before this deal, he has admired and regularly patronised KFC. “To have the opportunity to work with them is really good, and I’m looking forward to what the future has to offer,” he added, promising more growth for both brands.

The new deal adds to KiDi’s portfolio of brand deals. In March last year, the musician was announced as the face of Fidelity Bank’s digital campaign. In 2020, KiDi joined tech giant Samsung Electronics as a brand ambassador.

Born Dennis Nana Dwamena, KiDi is represented by Lynx Entertainment. He is also signed to the American distribution company and record label EMPIRE. The singer-songwriter and producer is behind two albums and an EP, and currently holds the Artist of the Year accolade at both this year’s 3Music Awards and Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
