SA: Zionruts Family to host reggae festival in July
South African band Zionruts Family are set host a reggae festival at Railway Cafe in Pretoria, South Africa, on 3 July.
- South African band Tidal Waves will perform at the Ruts Reggae Fest Fun Day on 3 July.
Ruts Reggae Fest Fun Day was originally scheduled for 2020, but it was postponed due to COVID-19. Five local artists have been confirmed for the event including Zionruts Family, Tidal Waves, JSSAR, Professor, and Mista Mat.
“This festival is trying to bridge the gap between the lovers of reggae and the music that they love, as we are trying also to uplift the reggae flag and empower other reggae musicians in and beyond South Africa,” Zionruts Family member Solomon Rutsman Tokwe told Music In Africa. “We are also looking at bringing international acts as we grow our event but currently, we are on baby steps coming out of the shell and we know with your support we can reach where we want to be.”
The free event will feature six vendor tables available for non-food and non-beverage consumable products. Tokwe urged well-wishers with all types of sponsorship to donate.
“This festival aims to bring together reggae lovers in one place to enjoy a good time while promoting upcoming companies and businesses along with vendors who come to exhibit their goods and services,” he said.
“Since we are expecting more than 250 people to attend this event, we don't just want the festival to be about music, but also to uplift different kinds of businesses, so we are asking all businesses that would like to expand their client-base with the people attending the festival to inquire about vendor tables.”
Vendors who need to rent a table at the event should email to zionruts@gmail.com or send a WhatsApp message to 084 443 1024.
