Call for registration: Songtrust music sync webinar
Global digital rights management platform Songtrust is calling on interested participants to register for its webinar titled Sync Crash Course: Everything You Need to Know on 30 June.
The session aims to boost participants’ knowledge about sync licensing and to educate them about maximising royalty collections.
“The process of sync licensing isn’t as simple as just securing a sync and cashing the check – there’s a lot more to know,” Songtrust said. “Join us for a quick webinar to learn more about how the sync licence process works, the licensing and collection steps, and how to make sure you collect all the money possible from these sync opportunities.”
The webinar will begin at 5.30pm CAT.
Interested users can register for the event here.
Granting a sync and recording licence means to allow a third party to use the copyright and sound recording of a musical work with visual media such as TV, film, ads, trailers, video and games. Sync can add a dynamic layer to a visual story from artists, composers and producers, while also providing a significant revenue stream.
“Songtrust does not offer creative services such as sync. However, we highly encourage our clients to create those relationships and pitch their songs for creative opportunities. We’re happy to help negotiate your sync deal on your behalf,” the company said.
Songtrust was founded by Downtown CEO Justin Kalifowitz and chief security officer Joe Conyers III in 2011. The platform enables creators to collect their royalties directly from more than 90 countries around the world. The company also provides royalty collection services for global distributors such as CD Baby and The Orchard.
Meanwhile, Music In Africa recently published its Revenue Streams for Music Creators in South Africa 2022 report, which seeks to identify the most profitable revenue streams. It features important statistics on newer models such as NFTs, crowdfunding and webcasting. Highlights of the report include a comprehensive list of revenue opportunities for music creators in South Africa, and the average earnable amounts in the different revenue streams, genres and locations.
