Omah Lay to go on North American tour with Boy Alone album
Nigerian singer Omah Lay will be taking his Boy Alone album on the road in North America starting 7 September.
Produced by Live Nation and Duke Concept, the tour will make stops across the US and Canada, including in big cities like Atlanta, New York, Toronto, Chicago and Los Angeles, with additional dates to be announced soon. It follows the musician’s recent performances across Europe in April, May and June.
Released on 15 July, the 14-track Boy Alone is Omah Lay’s first full-length project, following 2020’s EPs What Have We Done and Get Layd. It was heralded by the singles ‘Attention’ alongside Justin Bieber and ‘Woman’.
“I had the worst days of my life recording this album,” Omah Lay said about the inspiration behind the project. “I can’t sing what’s not me. If I’m saying anything in a song, it’s definitely true. The whole idea was to make sure that the album was really sounding the way I felt. I actually lived my reality on the album”.
Omah Lay gained mainstream notice in 2020 after his self-produced single ‘Bad Influence’ went viral on social media. He fuses hip hop, Afrobeats and percussion-heavy highlife, among other genres.
Months ago, Omah Lay secured a deal with American independent rights management and publishing company Kobalt, joining fellow African acts like Burna Boy and Mr Eazi, whose emPawa Publishing partnered with Kobalt in 2020.
