OneRPM launches artists’ service One Publishing
American distribution company ONErpm has launched a global music publishing service called One Publishing.
The news follows ONErpm’s recent opening of new offices in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa as part of its expansion in Africa, with Osagie Osarenz being promoted to director of African operations.
The platform provides distribution services for independent artists and labels operating in about 30 markets globally. It says its new publishing arm will allow songwriters and copyright owners to administer catalogues and collect publishing royalties from around the world “in an easy and transparent way.”
The new service is available to ONErpm’s premium distributed artists and labels as well as eligible DIY-distribution accounts.
One Publishing will be led by Diego Maldonado who previously worked at Colombia Records for seven years. He will report to ONErpm’s founder and CEO Emmanuel Zunz.
“I am honoured to develop this new publishing initiative. We truly believe in creating better solutions for musicians and with this powerful product we’re raising the standards and closing an important gap for songwriters and artists all over,” Maldonado said.
The platform said it had been working on making a foray into publishing for the past three years, developing the infrastructure to register, identify and administer compositions in compliance with international standards.
“Throughout the process, ONErpm has directly partnered with collection societies all over the world, and in doing so has minimised intermediaries which, as a result, puts more money in the pockets of songwriters,” the company said.
ONErpm has partnered with collective management organisations (CMOs) including BMI, ASCAP and SESAC in the US, as well as regional partners like UBC in Brazil, SACM in Mexico, and Unison in Europe. In terms of DSPs, ONErpm has secured deals with Apple, Deezer, Spotify, YouTube, Lyricfind and MusixMatch.
Zunz said: “The launch of One Publishing marks a milestone for our company as we consolidate our position as a leading independent and truly global music company. The service is in line with our mission to be a full-service and modern music company that works tirelessly to create more value for creators.”
