SA: Lawrence Maleka joins Nandi Madida to host 2022 SAMAs

Maleka – who gained prominence for his role as Zolani on local soap The River – joins singer, model and television presenter Nandi Madida. Last year, he hosted the SAMAs with local actress Bontle Moloi.

“I am again honoured to have received the call to host the country’s most prestigious awards show,” Maleka said. “I am excited about the calibre of artists that will be celebrated across 30 categories, the phenomenal performers that will ignite the stage and the magic Nandi Madida and I will bring. It’s going to be a memorable iteration of the South African Music Awards.”

Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi said: “Lawrence Maleka is a natural fit for the SAMAs. He brings the type of energy, professionalism and personality that resonates well with audiences. As a previous host, we know what he is capable of and we are all looking forward to seeing him and Nandi Madida make #SAMA28 magic.”

Meanwhile, voting is underway in the following public categories: TECNO Record of the Year, TECNO Music Video of the Year, SAMPRA Artist of the Year and TikTok Most Viral Song. Voting will also put fans in line to win a CAMON 19 Pro 5G device with an ultra-night portrait steady camera from TECNO Mobile.

The public can vote in the TECNO Record of the Year, TECNO Music Video of the Year and SAMPRA Artist of the Year categories as follows:

The public can vote in the TikTok Most Viral Song as follows:

• Download the TikTok app via your app store.
• Login/create a TikTok account.
• Select the search icon on the top right corner and tap the SAMA28 banner.
• Select their favourite song.
• Press vote.

The SAMAs are organised by RiSA, with sponsorship from the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, SAMPRA, CAPASSO, White Star, TECNO, SAMRO, RAV, SABC Radio, TikTok and DRIP.
