Nigeria: Spotify announces Magixx as Fresh Finds artist for August

He joins fellow Nigerian Ladé and Ghana’s Kofee Bean, both of whom have been selected for the monthly programme in previous months. 

Fresh Finds is an artist development programme by Spotify geared toward resourcing and spotlighting independent artists. Under the initiative, a new artist is chosen by the Spotify music team each month.

Magixx, born Adelabu Adewunmi Alexander, will benefit from tools and training as well as being featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist, which serves as a launching point for emerging artists. 

“Spotify is thrilled to have Magixx as the Fresh Finds Africa artist for August,” Spotify’s head of music for sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu said. “His vibe and aesthetic fit perfectly with Spotify’s brand and we couldn’t be more excited to see where this programme will take him. He is an artist who is unique and has a bright and promising music career ahead of him.” 

Signed to Mavin Records, Magixx is behind hit singles like ‘Love Don't Cost A Dime’, ‘Shaye’ and ‘All Over’.

The artist is up for Rookie of the Year at the 2022 Headies slated for the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta from 2 to 4 September.
