Tanzania: Rayvanny signs with Mziiki
Tanzanian artist Rayvanny has signed a contract with South African-based music distribution company Mziiki. The “multi-million deal” was revealed by the bongo flava musician on Monday.
“I am so happy to sign my first distribution deal in the world with my [new] family Mziiki,” Rayvanny announced on Instagram. “Big thanks to God and to all my fans for supporting me.”
This is the first major partnership the singer has entered into after exiting Diamond Platnumz’s WCB Wasafi record label for his Next Level Music label in July.
Following the announcement, Rayvanny has been receiving congratulatory messages from fans and fellow musicians, including Diamond Platnumz who welcomed his former protégé to the “billionaires club”.
In August, Mziiki received negative publicity after Rayvanny’s fellow Tanzanian artist Vanessa Mdee accused the company of not remitting her dues in accordance with her contract.
The singer, now based in Atlanta, US, complained that she had tried getting her money but the company was ignoring her requests.
“My goodness, money made from music is sought with so much difficulty by the artists,” Mdee said on Twitter. “Please Mziiki, I asked you to pay me my money according to the agreement we made. I have tried the professional way with my team but now you have reached a point where you have ceased to answer."
The artist later revealed that she was able to reach Mziiki’s management and that they were back on speaking terms.
