The record is a cover adaptation of an evergreen composition of the same title by Caiphus Semenya and Will Jennings. The richly instrumental single heralds the coming of age since Motsatse’s early days of classical music training, music competitions and multi-genre performances and concerts as a young violinist.
The release of ‘There’s Music in the Air’ describes Motsatse’s credentials as a classical-fusion violinist with a deep understanding of her instrument and the kaleidoscopic music landscape made beautiful by different genres.
Motsatse said the song was a dream come true and “a beginning of even greater things in her musical journey.”
“This is a beginning of an era for me. I have been playing live concerts since I was ten years old and I waited for the right moment to do this,” she said.
Produced by award-winning producer and film score composer JB Arthur, ‘There’s Music in the Air’ takes what is already a classic in its own right, to different audiences around the world.
“Neo and I sought to create a work that was honest and true to the original composition while building on her prowess as a violinist. We simply enjoyed working on this project,” JB Arthur said.
Neo’s manager and mother Fezeka Motsatse said: “Neo is well rooted in her being South African and this comes through strongly in her music. It is for that reason that she has decided that her recording career will reflect a great appreciation for the best of what South Africa has to offer. We are therefore excited not only with this release but with what is to come as well. Her music fans and followers are in for a treat.”
