Call for entries: 2022 Pulse Music Video Awards in Kenya
Kenyan artists can now submit their videos to be considered for the 2022 Pulse Music Video Awards (PMVAs) which will be held on 18 December.
Dubbed ‘PMVA – The Greats’, this year’s awards were launched by the The Standard Group in conjunction with its partners, past PMVAs winners and judges last week.
Now in its eighth edition, the awards have introduced new seven regional music categories that will honour artists who have made a major impact in their regions and contributed to the growth of Kenya’s music industry and cultural diversity.
The awards will maintain the competitive Video Vixen of the Year, Male Video of the Year, Female Video of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration of the Year and Artist of the Year categories.
The other categories are Best Breakthrough Video of the Year, Best Group Video of the Year, Video Director of the Year and Viewer’s Choice of the Year.
Submissions can be made on the PMVAs website before 27 November.
The videos submitted must be by Kenyan artists released this year, with the nominees to be revealed on 30 November.
Fan votes will contribute 40% of the overall score with the rest finalised during the judging process.
“I want to thank our partners, the East African Breweries Limited [EABL], for getting on this journey with us,” The Standard Group editor-in-chief Ochieng Rapuro said. “Pulse Music Video Awards – The Greats is part of our commitment to being the home of entertainment. As a media house, we want to support a thriving ecosystem for artists in an industry that has great potential."
During the launch, EABL marketing manager, branded spirits, Kennedy Mutula said: “PMVA –The Greats is an inclusive platform that brings together artists across many genres from all over Kenya and pays homage to Kenyan music legends past and present. Music has a far-reaching influence on world culture and development. It symbolises diversity in our life, and nurtures a creative spirit as it spreads joy and appreciation.”
