ACCES 2022: Exploring digital routes to global markets for African creators
The fifth edition of the Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES) will host a panel discussion titled Bridging the Gap to Global Markets: Digital Routes for African Music Creators at Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on 26 November.
The panel discussion forms part of the ACCES 2022 conference programme, which will feature talks, workshops, keynotes, networking and exhibitions starting on 25 November.
Speakers on the panel will include Ditto Music regional manager for Africa Wendy Verwey Bekker (South Africa), Universal Music Africa head of label and publishing Pit Baccardi (Ivory Coast), Electromode Ingrooves A&R Gareth Wilson (South Africa), Boomplay general manager Natasha Stambuli (Tanzania) and The Orchard artists and label relations head for East Africa Beth Achitsa (Kenya).
The discussion will begin at 3.15pm and the panellists will unpack the digital music economy in terms of strategies and best practices for African music creators to reach international audiences while thriving in an increasingly digitised global market. They will also look at how Africa’s music industries can leverage on tech and innovation to bridge the gap towards more global opportunities.
In addition, the panellists are expected to centre the discussion on their areas of expertise, including artist management as well as music publishing, aggregation and distribution.
“This is the perfect opportunity to hear from Africa’s leading experts about what music creators should have in place before taking their music to global audiences,” ACCES’ Claire Metais said. “This discussion could help independent artists and labels avoid making costly mistakes while maximising their earning potential in digital.”
