US rappers pledge support for Mama Hope Uganda
American rappers French Montana and Sean Combs are set to raise $200 000 for non-profit organisation Mama Hope through sales of a vodka collaboration.
This after Montana visited Mama Hope’s partner, Suubi Health Centre, in Uganda and donated $100 000 to the organisation for the purchase of ambulances, incubators, cribs and a blood bank.
Montana and Combs have now announced their partnership to assist the organisation in its mission to support the underprivileged.
“I am showing my support for the philanthropic work Montana is doing in Uganda,” Combs said. “Cîroc will donate $1 from every Cîroc French Vanilla bottle sold and the money will support the organization Mama Hope. I will match the donation so that our success stories and contributions can benefit as many people as possible.”
The collaboration came after Montana suggested that Combs create a French vanilla flavoured vodka through the latter’s alcohol brand Cîroc.
Montana has become a familiar name in Uganda. Late last month he met with the Ugandan ambassador to the UN to find ways in which his partnership with the Global Organisation for Maternal and Child Health (Go-MCH) could help reduce mortality rates of mothers and children who die during birth, as well as those of children under the age of five who lose their lives to various diseases.
Mama Hope works with grassroots leaders worldwide to end extreme poverty. Montana first came to Uganda in March this year to shoot a video for his single ‘Unforgettable’.
