Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck inks crypto brand deal
Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has struck a brand ambassador deal with American crypto company Yellow Card Financial.
He joins fellow artist Psycho YP, who signed a similar deal with the company in January. Other big names who have partnered with Yellow Card include Stonebwoy (Ghana), Tay Grin (Malawi) and Douglas Lwanga (Uganda).
Yellow Card says the partnership will increase awareness of the available opportunities within the cryptocurrency ecosystem and lower obstacles that stifle its adoption. As part of the deal, Odumodublvck will feature prominently in brand campaigns, offering fans and followers exclusive offers and discounts via his promo code.
“I believe in Yellow Card’s vision of financial inclusion for all,” Odumodublvck said. “Everyone deserves fair access to financial services that improve their financial stability, whether rich or poor, and that’s something I’m aligned with.”
Yellow Card’s regional marketing manager for West Africa, Rachael Akalia, said: “This partnership gives us room to connect with our customers and prospects, in many ways that will enrich their experience of the brand.
“With this, we hope to steadily expand the knowledge of cryptocurrencies and accelerate the pace of crypto adoption in Nigeria, and across the continent.”
According to a report by a US blockchain data platform Chainalysis, Nigeria and Kenya lead the African continent in the development and adoption of cryptocurrencies, although Africa remains the smallest market in the world with crypto transactions peaking at $20 billion per month in mid-2021.
Brand ambassadors in the form of popular musicians is seen as a marketing strategy to entice Africa’s youth demographic, which makes up the bulk of the continent’s population, to take up digital currencies in favour of traditional banking services.
