Call for applications: Hiphop Africa editor in Nairobi
Hiphop Africa, a new voice in the African hip hop scene, is looking for a talented writer and music enthusiast based in Nairobi, Kenya, to join its team as the East Africa editor.
The successful applicant will be charged with generating engaging, original content for the Hiphop Africa website and other platforms.
He or she will stay up to date with the current happenings in the East African hip hop scene and be able to research and develop interesting topics that will appeal to the target audience and grow readership.
You should possess or be able to get contacts of key industry players in the region and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Writing news and features on the East African hip hop industry.
- Editing, publishing and promoting content.
- Generating, researching and pitching ideas for posts.
- Promoting new posts using advertisements, emails, social media, and other methods to alert and attract new readers.
- Inviting other bloggers, experts or other notable guests to contribute content to the website.
- Keeping abreast with current industry trends for opportunities to attract new readers or forge partnerships.
Requirements
- Writing experience and familiarity with our niche market and interests.
- Exceptional research and communication skills.
- Creativity and adaptability.
- Strong understanding of the target audience and industry trends.
- Proficiency in computers, especially content management software, social media platforms, MS Office and SEO.
- Ability to sit and type for extended periods.
