Senegambian musicians to rock Vienna
The fifth edition of the Flag Flow High Senegambia music concert will see several Gambian artists perform on 7 October at the Reigen Club in Vienna, Austria.
The Flag Flow High Senegambia music concerts is an annual concert featuring Gambian and Senegalese artists and DJs in Europe. This year, the lineup includes Top Gun, Lixen Khan, Sun Sooley, Rebellion The Recaller, Sista Awa, Limbo and King Pata. They will be backed by the House of Riddim Band featuring Simplicity Sound, DJ Taff and DJ Jah Elevator.
Fabs Colley, manager of Flag Flow High Senegambia music concert, discussed the aim of the festival. “We trying to uplift the Senegambia musicians living all over the world," he said, "making them known to the whole world and to be able to reach far in their music career. Our aim is to promote and provide them links, shows and concerts all around the globe!"
Speaking after last year's event, Colley thanked attendees, saying, "This movement does not belong to the founders anymore; it belongs to all of us. Big thanks going out to all the people that helped the movement in one way or the other, especially all the artistes that ever performed in our shows."
The sole female performer in the lineup, Sista Awa, was born in 1996 to a Senegalese father and an Italian mother. Based in Italy, she began singing a variety of styles, but focused on reggae when she met the Eazy Skankers, an Italian reggae band. Watch the video for her single 'Money & Pollution' below:
