SA: Watch Bongeziwe Mabandla’s Colors performance
South African musician Bongeziwe Mabandla recently made his debut appearance on A Colors Show ahead of the release of his fourth studio album amaXesha on 5 May.
Magnified by a striking blue background, Mabandla performed ‘sisahleleleni (i)’, which is off his upcoming project.
Colors is a unique aesthetic music platform that showcases musicians from around the globe with the aim of promoting the most distinctive new artists and original sounds.
Mabandla joins a handful of South African musicians to earn a performance on the coveted platform, with previous artists including Sho Madjozi, Sjava, Yungen Blakrok and ByLwansta.
Mabandla’s upcoming album amaXesha (English: ‘The Times’) is a reflection of the enigmatic spirit of African soul – blending time and compatibility in the vast fields of love.
“While South Africa was experiencing a pandemic lockdown, Mabandla found the time to contemplate the importance of connection, particularly how our desire for connection can cause us to repeat the same kind of experiences and outcomes,” Mabandla’s label, Black Major, said.
Mabandla is regarded as one of the most innovative artists in South Africa today. The award-winning singer-songwriter is known for a unique style that fuses traditional Xhosa folk music with modern electronic production.
