African Music Business Dialogue announces keynote speakers for 2023 edition
The organisers of the African Music Business Dialogue (AMBD) have announced the keynote speakers for the second edition of the convention that will take place at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Zambia, on 16 and 17 June.
The initiative, founded by Ghanaian artist and activist Enoch ‘Trigmatic’ Nana Yaw Oduro-Agyei, offers a platform for industry specialists to share knowledge and insights about the music ecosystem on the continent.
Running under the theme, The Big Picture: Action Today; Wealthier Tomorrow, this year’s event will feature a forum and workshop on Day 1, and an exhibition and music showcase on the second day.
The speakers include Music In Africa Foundation director Eddie Hatitye, ONErpm director of African operations Osagie Osarenz, Jayzee Records/Bookpro Africa CEO Zamani Ndimande, MOZO TV and Platinum Events CEO Nana Yaw Obiri Yeboah, and music marketing and brand specialist Isshak Abdullai. Others are Association of Independent Record Companies vice president Dr Stanley Khosa, PHAT! Music & Entertainment founder and YAKWETU Online co-founder Mike Strano, as well as Blue Blazer Media CEO Tivo Shikapwasha.
This year’s conference follows the inaugural AMBD, held in Accra, Ghana, last year to discuss revenue generation for all players in the value chain, Ghana’s growing festival culture, and the tourism opportunities connected to the local music industry. It brought together industry experts such as Afro Nation Ghana festival boss and The Rave Group CEO Ruddy Kwakye, sound engineer and producer Kofi ‘IamBeatMenace’ Boachie-Ansah, creative entrepreneur George Nii Ofoli Yartey and veteran producer Panji Anoff, among others.
Commenting about the forum’s vision, Oduro-Agyei said African music has played a crucial role in promoting the positive image of the continent, emphasising the need for a platform to discuss the challenges and opportunities within the music industry and to share the best practices that have been learned.
AMBD was created through a collaboration between Bwired Ghana Limited, Platinum Events, MOZO TV and TopStar TV. It comprises panels, workshops, a showcase, an exhibition, and networking opportunities, providing participants with a comprehensive and interactive experience.
