Call for submissions: 2023 Headies Awards
The Headies, the global awards for Afrobeats music, have announced a call for submissions for its 2023 edition.
Established by Hip Hop World Magazine in 2006, The Headies recognise and celebrate exceptional musicians and music professionals in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
At last year’s ceremony, held at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, US, more than 30 prestigious awards were presented across various categories.
Among the new awards introduced were Best Afrobeat Pop Single (Nigeria), Best Afrobeat Pop Album (Nigeria), Best African Collaboration, Best International Collaboration, African Artist of the Year, International Artist of the Year, and Music Executive of the Year.
The night saw Wizkid and Tems emerge as the biggest winners, each securing five awards, with three of them attributed to their collaboration on the global mega hit ‘Essence’.
To be eligible for consideration in this year’s awards, all musical works must have been released between January 2022 and March 2023.
Artists or their representatives are invited to submit their entries for nomination, which can be done through the designated submission platform.
The deadline for submission is 16 June.
The upcoming edition of The Headies will be accompanied by a series of exciting activities, including a conference and music festival. Additionally, the Mic Check talent show will offer a platform for undiscovered artists to showcase their potential and talent.
