Nigeria: The Plug Entertainment announces publishing arm
Nigerian talent management and music services company The Plug Entertainment has announced the launch of a specialised department focusing on publishing and licensing.
The Plug Publishing, comprising A&R personnel and publishing administrators, will work closely with artists and songwriters to register and administer their musical compositions and copyrights, ensuring proper compensation for their work.
“We also actively seek out sync licensing opportunities for our artists, helping them gain exposure and reach new audiences through music placements in media like film, gaming and the TV industry,” the company said. This is expected to help artists gain exposure and reach new audiences while opening up revenue streams beyond traditional music releases.
The firm says it will leverage its expertise and industry connections to represent and empower artists to thrive. “At The Plug Publishing, we are passionate about bringing music to life and helping artists achieve their creative vision,” the company added.
The move comes on the heels of a merger between The Plug and service-based agency TopBoy Entertainment in September last year. According to a statement, the partnership would allow The Plug to enhance its strength in solutions and marketing for brands across various areas.
Despite the merger, The Plug, established in 2016 by industry professionals Asa Asika and Bizzle Osikoya, has maintained its identity as a client-servicing company with a focus on talent management across music, art, and sports.
The combined talent management portfolio of The Plug and TopBoy Entertainment includes popular artists like Davido, Oxlade, BOJ, Focalistic, CKay, Victony and Bella Shmurda. The Plug’s sports management vertical represents football stars Asisat Oshoala and Henry Onyekuru, as well as the 100m hurdles world record holder Tobi Amusan.
