Zakes Bantwini, Nomcebo Zikode and Boity join Aline talent agency
South African artists Zakes Bantwini, Nomcebo Zikode and Boity Thulo have been unveiled as flagship acts by the newly formed Africa talent management agency, Aline.
Aline was formed by Independent Media Group Africa (IMG) and The Music Arena, and the acquisition of the three top-rated artists is seen as a statement move in a bid to capture the talent management market on the continent.
Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode won the Grammy this year jointly with Wouter Kellerman for their hit ‘Bayethe’, while Boity is a talented musician, media personality and entrepreneur.
Commenting on the partnership, Aline CEO Sibo Mhlungu said: “We represent storytellers who shape culture while accelerating their growth through deepening connections with consumers and forging partnerships across entertainment and media as we position our clients for success.”
The company said in a statement that its long-term goal is to forge a lasting legacy representing African talent and producing shows at the highest level by Africans.
“This speaks to a new dawn in talent management and event production, as well as African arts, film and music,” Mhlungu added. “Locally developed and globally competitive content coming from the continent to the world by world-class media and entertainment practitioners who have worked tirelessly to perfect both their craft and market-related standards.”
The Music Arena is also home to media and content business company Content Connect Africa, which facilitates Gallo’s music and distribution wing. IMG Africa, on the other hand, is one of Africa’s leading talent agencies and a recognised curator of world-class live concerts and events.
Content Connect Africa CEO Antos Stella said: “The partnership is a game-changer for the music industry as it combines a repertoire of talent with global appeal.”
This new expansion will also see the agency begin the process of expanding its offerings over time beyond music into film and other creative arts.
