Yemi Alade’s new single Fear Love out
Nigerian Afropop singer Yemi Alade today released her new single ‘Fear Love’. The record is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
Written by Yemi Alade alongside Kunmi and produced by Hulla, ‘Fear Love’ is a groovy Afro-fusion track. The singer said the song came to her at a time when she “needed to voice these thoughts. It’s like therapy if you let it sink in.”
Thematically, the song addresses doubts in romantic relationships. “Insecurity shows up in different forms when you find someone to show deep affection for,” a statement reads. “The new single takes on such moments when you develop feelings for someone or experience love but still remain cautious – safeguarding your heart.”
‘Fear Love’ follows the success of ‘Fake Friends (Iró Òre)’, the lead single off Yemi’s upcoming seventh album set for release in the last quarter of the year. Her discography includes King of Queens (2014), Mama Africa , Black Magic & Deluxe Version (2017), Woman of Steel (2019), Empress (2020), Queendoncom (2021) and African Baddie (2022).
“My upcoming album is a representation of my thoughts, needs, experiences, stories, ideas and my desire to connect with every listener on each song,” Yemi Alade, a UNDP Goodwill ambassador, said. “Every song is potent with stories.”
Her other recent singles include ‘Pounds & Dollars’, ‘Baddie’, ‘Jojo’ and ‘Bright Future’. These releases have cumulatively surpassed 20 million views on YouTube alone.
Meanwhile, the singer’s African Baddie World Tour is currently making stops in America and Europe.
