Marcus Ross
Bio
An experienced commercial leader with over 15 years of music industry experience, Marcus Ross is currently the Senior Licensing & Partnerships Manager for world-leading B2B music distributor, FUGA - a division of Downtown Music.
Ross began his journey as a musician and songwriter, recording two albums and touring across three continents before entering the world of marketing in 2011 where he became a Media Strategist for creative agency, Cummins & Partners in Melbourne; specializing in branded events, campaign strategy & client relationship management.
In 2014, Ross co-launched the Melbourne division of US streaming giant, Pandora Music, a leading music and podcast discovery platform. As Senior Sales Executive, Ross worked to educate the advertising industry on the Australian music landscape, acting as a liaison between the music and advertising industries. He progressed in 2017 to become the Music Industry Relations Manager where he set up Artist Marketing programs and advocated the benefits of music streaming for the Australian music landscape.
From 2018 to 2022, Ross held significant roles including becoming the Brand Partnership Lead for BMG Australia and and the Country Manager for PlayNetwork where he built out Apple Music for Business in partnership with Apple Music in Australia, New Zealand and APAC markets.
Currently, Ross is the Senior Licensing & Partnerships Manager for FUGA, overseeing all licensing and partnerships for the company’s more than 90 global DSP partners. Ross’s deep understanding of the growing need to tap into niche, global audiences helps FUGA’s almost 1000 clients maximize their catalog and content.
Ross sits on the Global Music Industry Advisory Board for the London-based, non-profit organization, In Place of War and has lent his voice to multiple global conferences, including Talinn Music Week, BigSound, Music Matters.
