Ayra Starr’s Rush goes diamond in France
Nigerian singer Ayra Starr’s single ‘Rush’ has earned a diamond certification in France.
This was revealed by French music certification organisation National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing (SNEP) on social media on 11 September. “The song ‘Rush’ by Ayra Starr is a certified diamond single,” SNEP said. “50 000 000 equivalent streams. Bravo!”
‘Rush’ was released last year on the Don Jazzy-led Mavin Global label as part of the deluxe version of Ayra Starr’s debut album 19 & Dangerous, which features American R&B singer Kelly Rowland on the remix of the focus track ‘Bloody Samaritan’. The latest milestone arrives a year after fellow Mavin act Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ single became a diamond-certified record in France.
On YouTube, ‘Rush’, which has already received platinum and silver certifications in Canada and the UK, respectively, has been streamed more than 232 million times.
Ayra Starr, born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, is currently on her 21: The World Tour in North America scheduled to conclude on 19 September in Vancouver. Afterward, she’ll embark on tours across Africa and Australia starting from 30 September, followed by a European leg commencing on 3 November in Stockholm and concluding in Zurich on 30 November.
