Open call: Youth Expressions Festival 2024 in SA

Professional young art practitioners are invited to propose their artistic work to be part of the festival. Proposals for the following genres will be considered:

• Music.
• Musical theatre.
• Children’s theatre.
• Drama.
• Poetry.
• Visual arts.

All proposals should meet the following requirements:

• Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 in 2024 (ID copy of applicant to accompany the application).
• Motivation letter of how the production is relevant, impactful, meaningful and entertaining.
• Creative team information that includes biographies and contact details.
• A detailed synopsis of the production.
• A narrative treatment of the production
• For visual artists, a recent portfolio of work you have and wish to present.

In addition to the financial support, the South African State Theatre will provide all selected candidates with artistic and technical support.

All proposals must be submitted to eyct@statetheatre.co.za with the genre being proposed and ‘YEF’ in the subject line of the email. The deadline for submission is 23 September.

Note: Applicants who do not receive a response by 5 December should consider their applications unsuccessful.
