Mudiwa dominates Zim Hip Hop Awards

Mudiwa won in the Best Hip Hop Hustle, Video of the Year, Best Gospel Artist and Best Dressed categories. Kikky won the People’s Choice and Best Female Artist accolades.

Other winners include Guluva Se7en (Best Verse), Naboth Rizla (Best TV Media) and DJ Kead Wikead (Best Club DJ).

“I am excited and happy. After launching seven videos this year, I feel so honoured for such a recognition,” Mudiwa told Music In Africa, adding somewhat conceitedly that he had become accustomed to winning awards in his home country.

“There is nothing new about this. In 2014, I won three awards on the same night at the Zim Hip Hop awards,” he said.

“On paper, honestly, I didn’t see competition in the categories I was in. I could arguably win this across all genres, so it wasn’t a surprise. Best Gospel was obvious, Best Video was obvious, Best Dressed was way too obvious,” the ‘Ndaita Mari’ hitmaker said laughingly.
