Airbit enhances beat marketplace for creators
Global beat marketplace Airbit this week unveiled changes aimed at streamlining online beat selling for music producers and creators.
Airbit boasts a catalogue of more than a million beats from notable and emerging producers from around the world. To date, creators around the world have earned over $50m on Airbit, with over 2 million beats sold, according to the company.
The new changes include the removal of commissions and the enhancement of features in the free Basic plan, with the goal of ensuring more profits go directly to artists.
All seller commission fees, previously up to 40%, have been reduced to 0% on its marketplace. This change, coupled with the existing 0% buyer service fees, allows producers to keep a higher portion of their earnings from the Airbit marketplace.
The Basic tier now allows users to upload up to 20 beats to their marketplace profile (up from 10), automatically share beat videos on social media, and unlock free downloads through social engagement.
“Airbit has always been committed to empowering creators by providing them with everything they need to advance their artistic freedom and success in today’s competitive music industry,” a statement reads. “This mission was further strengthened through its acquisition by BandLab Technologies earlier this year.”
“We are excited to introduce these changes that set the stage for an even better Airbit experience,” Airbit founder and CEO Wasim Khamlichi said. “By removing marketplace commissions, we are providing tools for producers and creators to focus on what truly matters – reaching their audience and delivering exceptional music.”
Meanwhile, Airbit has introduced integrations with social music creation platform BandLab, with a user base of over 60 million, to expand its reach to a broader audience of creators.
“We firmly believe that creators and rights holders should be able to diversify their presence across multiple platforms to truly harness their revenue potential,” BandLab CEO and co-founder Meng Ru Kuok, said. “This is just the beginning , we’re excited to roll out additional features in the upcoming months to ensure our community of creators is poised for unprecedented growth and success.”
